Werner E. Minshall
Chief Executive Officer
As the founding co-partner of Minshall Stewart Properties, Mr. Minshall is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of the Company. He is responsibilities include; leading the development of strategic business initiatives, ensuring staffing and business systems are optimized, providing experienced leadership in negotiations and structuring business transactions.
Mr. Minshall has completed the acquisition of industrial, retail, multifamily and office assets in Ohio, Michigan, Wyoming, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
Mr. Minshall is the founder of Minshall Development Company, a real estate property management company. Minshall Development Company was formed as the precursor to Minshall Stewart Properties in 1989. The firm engaged primarily in the acquisition and management of value added real estate assets purchased from banks and financial institutions in the Mid Atlantic and Mid Western States. Through careful turn around strategies, Mr. Minshall has consistently achieved equity returns in excess of 30%.
Prior to forming Minshall Development, Mr. Minshall acted as Chief Operating Officer of Parkway Companies of Baltimore, MD where he developed in excess of 600 acres and 1,000,000 square feet of office and industrial space. He began his career as a Site Acquisitions Officer for the McDonald’s Corporation.
Mr. Minshall holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in religion from the University of South Carolina, and began his real estate career while matriculating as an undergraduate in Columbia, S.C.
John H. Stewart
Mr. Stewart is primarily responsible for developing and implementing strategies that ensure the continued revenue and income growth of the Company. His daily responsibilities include identifying potential acquisition opportunities and structuring the debt and equity required to execute the transactions. He is also responsible for identifying new financial partners and maintaining existing investor relationships with firms such as JP Morgan Investment Management, Heitman and Angelo, Gordon & Company.
During his tenure at the Company, Mr. Stewart has been principally involved with the acquisition of over 3.6 million square feet of commercial space and has arranged and closed over $425 million of debt and equity financings. In addition, he has executed dispositions of commercial assets totaling approximately 2,100,000 square feet.
Prior to joining Minshall Stewart Properties, Mr. Stewart spent six years with GE Capital Commercial Real Estate Services in various managerial and transactionally oriented positions. During his tenure he was responsible for over $500 million of debt and equity financing as well as the asset management of over 3 million square feet of commercial space and in excess of 1,000 apartment units.
Mr. Stewart holds an MBA degree with a specialization in Finance from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Widener University where he received admission into Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society. He is also a graduate of the inaugural class of the Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate (AMPD) at the Harvard School of Design.
